The reason for my nomination
Naked Generations was started in the middle of the downturn. From the beginning it hasn’t looked for easy options. It chose a target market of some of the biggest companies on the planet, and within those, to work with the most senior individuals and their teams.
Naked won three major clients in the first two months and have continued to engage great interest for their Gen Y concepts. For any business this would be a mean feat to achieve, but for a start-up, in a recession, without being known as a brand, it is a real achievement!! The business has also had to fight, tirelessly, for some of their contracts. What I admire about this is that they seem to have learned quickly when things don’t go quite to plan, and then adapt and develop, and go again. They have a relentless desire to succeed.
Naked Generations has worked throughout Europe as well as home town London. In 2009 Naked Generations has spoken at conferences in cities such as Boston, Brussels and London. The research they are doing into all components of Gen Y positions them at the forefront of their field and makes them much sought after commentators on Generational thinking.
Since inception, Christopher Lomas (the 25 year old Chief Executive,) has grown the business through building strong, vibrant business relationships and has now integrated another business into Naked as a joint venture. The team has grown to include five dynamic individuals who are all committed to establishing Naked as THE Gen Y brand. Christopher’s team speaks highly of him, which is testament to his open and honest management style. He genuinely seeks to support his team so that they are motivated and empowered.
The business embodies what a future company will look like, by living out the beliefs of the next generation – not being bound by time and location, but collaborating heavily across multiple time zones and delivering on the basis of ‘output value’, not just time spent on each project. Naked’s brand embodies the counter cultural values that both individuals and organisations fundamentally admire: Trust, Transparency and Accountability – and I know that living these values, is helping Naked to succeed and grow.
Whenever Christopher has shared his vision for the business with me I am always inspired - It is wonderfully ambitious, and as it succeeds it will undoubtedly have a global impact.
